If your organisation requires mission critical connectivity, remember that not all internet connections are the same.

BTnet is a premium internet connection. You get exceptional service with guaranteed speeds from 10Mbps right up to a blisteringly fast 10Gbps.

For schools and colleges with many users needing to access the connection at the same time, a BTnet is a rock solid service that you can depend on, whether your users are all on site or connecting into resources remotely from home.

This award winning dedicated internet access is backed by around the clock support and industry leading SLA and comes in a variety of bearer sizes. From micro offices right up to larger corporations or universities supporting 100s or 1000s of users.

Wondering how a leased line and fibre broadband differs?

On BTnet, unlike fibre broadband you do not share bandwidth with anyone else so no matter what time of day your service will not slow down.

BTnet is a Dedicated Internet Access, sometimes referred to as a leased line, or ethernet leased line. It essentially provides access to bandwidth for your companies exclusive use. BTnet connects to much higher grade equipment in the exchange and throughout the network. You may have noticed that broadband that can fluctuate are different times of the day? On a BTnet this is not the case, you should get all the bandwidth you pay for 24/7.

For smaller offices or home working situations where downtime is not an option we also offer a lower cost, lower bandwidth, 1:1 leased line service called BTnet Express. It is delivered over GEA access in a similar way to FTTC or FTTP fibre broadband, however it does not connect to the fibre broadband platform, but to the same platform as its Ethernet big brother. You get the same support, rapid fix times, 100% uptime SLA and symmetrical access speeds just like the Ethernet Access Direct main BTnet service.

They are designed for situations where downtime is not an option. We have a large number of customers enjoying dedicated internet connectivity especially in SME, education and public sector.

Because of the reliability of dedicated internet, it is ideal for any organisation running cloud / hosted voice / SIP trunks including call centres.

We can help you choose the right connection for your needs whether EoFTTC, EFM, or Ethernet Access Direct fibre over a choice of bearer sizes, with or without resilience options. .

frequently asked questions

Fibre broadband is delivered over a lower cost platform where bandwidth is “contended” or shared with other users. If service goes down you might need to wait a day or two to get the service fixed, and the upload speed is often much less than the download speed.

A BTnet service is  1:1 uncontended end to end. You do not share bandwidth with anyone so no matter what time of the say speed should not fluctuate. If there is a fault (which is extremely rare) BT aim to have it resolved in 5 hours. You get a 100% uptime SLA backed by a money back Service Level Guarantee from the first minute of downtime. And  because it is symmetrical you get the same speed up and down.

It doesn’t matter how many people you have online at the same time. With this dedicated internet you get the same upload and download speeds. We provide services on GEA and 100Mb, 500Mbps 1Gbps and  10Gbps fibre ethernet bearers. You can choose any speed up to the size of your chosen bearer capacity. Because it’s truly unlimited, you can use it as much as you like. You can even flex your speed up or down, depending on your changing demands.

Our most popular dedicated connection service is backed up by a market-leading 100 per cent availability Service Level Agreement (SLA). We’re confident it won’t let you down. But in the rare event that something does go wrong, the UK-based support team is there for you 24/7. And we’ll do everything we can to get you back up and running within five hours.

Ultra low! Critical for applications such as financial trading, video and voice and cloud apps where every millisecond counts and lag can be a problem.

The  Service Level Agreement includes guarantees around network latency so you can have faith in the service.

This includes guarantees for UK network performance of <20ms (measured UK access node to access node). And because BT publish the network performance,  you can check on latency within the UK or even internationally.

In some cases yes, you can benefit from more bandwidth in as little as 48 hrs. If already on a BTnet service may be able to help you get better value, more bandwidth, or add resilience a service already in place without the hassle of needing to change carrier.

If upgrading bearer or changing provider then you should expect an element of downtime when the service is swapped over as you will most likely get a replacement router. This could be anything between a few minutes to a couple of hours. The engineer and order manager however will work with you to establish a suitable time and date.

Uber reliable. It’s an internet connection that’s dedicated only to you and your business. You don’t share your connection with anyone else, so there’s no need to worry about busy periods, no matter what you’re doing: it’s reliability you can count on.

This all depends on what needs doing. If flexing up bandwidth on a service already in place it can be as quick as 48 hours. Lead times to provide new access circuits can typically vary between 45-90 working days depending on what work needs doing. An estimate of a completion date or “Customer Delivery Date” would be given after surveys have been completed.

You have options of wires only, Cisco or Meraki routers.

The Meraki option is aimed at SME and comes with a range of features that put you in control of your network. There’s integrated Wi-Fi, Guest Wi-Fi for visitors and plenty of plug-and-play LAN ports. With the Meraki user portal you can keep an eye on usage from any device, anytime.

The Cisco options are preferred by corporate clients, schools and public sectors customers.

Please ask for more info.
