PSTN Switch-Off: Act Now to Protect Your Business
The countdown is on, the UK’s Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) will close on 31 December 2025. After this date, traditional phone lines, ISDN services, ADSL, FTTC broadband, and Featureline will no longer work.
If your business hasn’t yet moved to an alternative IP-based service, you must act now. There will be no extensions, and doing nothing risks losing vital services such as phone lines and internet connectivity.
What You Need to Know
-
Services affected: PSTN, ISDN2/30, ADSL, FTTC, Featureline.
-
Deadline: Confirm an order with BT (or your new supplier) by 31 December 2025.
-
Protective Migrations: If no action is taken, BT may migrate eligible services automatically from January 2026 — but not all services are covered, and costs or features may change.
-
Emergency Calls: After the switchover, businesses will need a mobile backup to dial 999/112 during a power cut or outage.
Why This Matters
The PSTN is outdated and increasingly unreliable, outages are rising. Moving to digital ensures your business has stable, future-ready connectivity.
