What is it and do we need it?
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification scheme that helps businesses protect themselves against common cyber attacks. Being certified can demonstrate to customers, suppliers, and stakeholders that a business takes cybersecurity seriously and has taken steps to protect their systems and data.
It can also help you win business, some Government contracts for example require suppliers to be Cyber Essentials certified. CE can also help identify and address vulnerabilities in IT systems, improving a companies overall cybersecurity posture. Certification is valid for 12 months at a time and consists of two levels of certification:
Cyber Essentials (aka basic) and Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials Basic
The Cyber Essentials Basic certification involves a self-assessment questionnaire that businesses complete to demonstrate that they meet a set of basic cybersecurity requirements, such as firewalls, malware protection, secure configuration, and user access control.
Standard pricing starts at £295 pa. We can also provide guided and managed options via email, live chat and video support options too.
Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials Plus extends the standard certification, and requires an independent assessment of your IT security measures by a third party, rather than self certifying.
Pricing starts at £1,199.99 pa, with additional support options available too.
Working with you
Vulnerability Pre Assessment
Pre-Assessment scanning involves your IT support working directly with the Assessments team within the 90-day limit between CE to CE Plus, meaning you can relax in the knowledge that everything necessary will be happening to assure you a first time pass.
Guidance and support throughout assessment will be thorough, not only helping your organisation improve its security processes and policies but giving you a fuller understanding of Cyber Essentials and why it is so important.
